Oh hey guys, remember when I went to London last summer, and remember that big ass haul I did after that? When I bought this BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Lips thingy? No? Well I don’t blame you ’cause it’s like three million ages ago and I actually planned on reviewing it back then, but I never really did. It was only recently when I was browsing to my file full of review pictures that I realised I still had to review this little beauty. I decided to wear it a couple more times and today it’s finally time for the review. FINALLY! If you’re interested in finding out more about this pretty thing, keep on reading!
First things first, the packaging. Back in the summer of 2015, the ancient times (ok I might be exaggerating a bit too much here, but lets roll with it for now), lip crayons were hot and happening. This is something like that too. It’s not as chubby as most of the popular lip crayons, but it’s pretty much the same concept. So yeah packaging wise there’s nothing to really love or hate since it’s just a crayon, but overall I do like the look of it.
There are a total of 5 different shades available in this lip crayon range by BarryM. The one I have, which is called Capella is the most neutral one. The other ones are pretty bright, bold, but really beautiful as well.
Capella is, as I mentioned before, the most neutral colour out of the 5. It’s a very pretty purply pink colour. It’s not the perfect nude, it has too much purple in it for that, but it is a really pretty colour for those days you do want something a little extra special, but you don’t want to go all out.
When I was thinking about skin tones, and who would suit this colour, I was torn between everybody and only some people. That because this is a very specific colour. The purple is just not for everybody. But on the other hand, when I imagined this colour on every possible skin tone, I ended up thinking it looked good on everybody. So, in other words, I’m not going to say this colour will suit everybody or only some people, I just don’t know so you’re going to have to decide that for yourself.
Pigmentation wise this product is pretty much incredible. I mean look at it, it’s just a burst of colour on my lips. I absolutely love it. Something I love even more is the finish. This product is called “Gelly Hi-Shine”, so you could have expected this kind of a finish, but still. It’s gorgeous and I love it. Of course if you’re more of a matte lip kinda girl, this is probably not your jam, but for me this is amazing.
Lasting power wise this product is fine. It’s not insane, but considering the fact that it’s a shiny and glossy lip product, it’s great that it stays in place for like 2 to 3 hours. I’m not disappointed by that.
Overall I think the BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Lips is pretty great. I absolutely love how pigmented it is and how it can add that gorgeous pop of colour to your makeup look. Aside from that I really love the finish and how comfortable it is to wear. It’s really one of my favourite lip products ever!
The BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Lips is available at Superdrug for £4,99.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know which lip crayon you love the most!
